2021 gift guide: kindergartener

Back for week two of my holiday gift guides. Last week we covered toddlers/preschoolers, this week I’m focusing on Kindergarteners - basically ages 4-6. While I have a Kinder boy, I did try to include things that appeal to girls too. Lots of extra links for different retailers and similar items in the descriptions too!

Again, I earn a small affiliate commission if you purchase via my links. I so appreciate your support of The Rose Record over the years. I love finding unique gifts, but it does take quite a bit of time!

1.) Kids Smart Watch - Learning to tell time is a big skill we are working on right now, and this cute smart watch has wonderful reviews. They can take photos and make them their watch face, it has a few games, and you can message other Kidizoom watches too. I looked at a few different watches, and this one had great reviews. On sale for $50 right now, then back up to $62. Comes in blue and purple.

2.) Give, Spend, Save Bank - I love this bank SO much. What a great way to understand saving, spending, and donating money. I love the visual of seeing which section has more or less money. It’s such a great way to talk about some of these greater concepts at a young age. I already ordered this for Deacon this year and think he will love deciding what to do with his chore and tooth fairy money. $48 Also found this same version that you can have a name added onto. You know I love a personalization!

3.) HugglePod Swing - Swinging is such a helpful tool for us when our kids get a little overstimulated. Whether your child has sensory sensitive or not, swinging can often relax kids, reset their vestibular system. We have this net swing in our front yard, but I’m trying to find a way to add this HugglePod to our backyard or even our playroom. It seem like such a cozy spot to read or chill. Comes in a variety of colors. $60

4.) Kiwi Crate - As I explained here, we are trying to gift more experiences and less STUFF this year. I LOVE the concept of these monthly craft/STEM boxes for kids. Deacon is super into science and art and these are a great way to use those skills. You can gift a gift card or a certain number of monlthy boxes. They have all kinds of kits for all kinds of age ranges. Several friends of ours have these and just adore them. I’m excited about this one! $20/month.

5.) Comic Book Kit - Here’s another one I’m excited about. My little artist draws constantly, and I love the idea of turning that skill into more of a storytelling skill with this comic book kit. I may buy a couple and keep for my birthday gift stash. A great price point too at only $20. If you have a kid who is more into crafts (think pipe cleaners etc.), this other large craft library kit would be wonderful for them.

6.) Ultimate Nail & Hand Spa - I know a few of my son’s Kinder girl friends who would flip over this. Soak, massage, polish, decorate, and dry all in one cute kit! I feel like this is one of those toys that they can entertain themselves or a group of friends with for quite some time. Will be super handy (pun intended) for that lull week after Christmas when school is still closed. $27

7.) Spike Ball - We saw kids playing this on the green in Rosemary Beach over Spring Break and it was simple enough that my then 5 year old and 2 year old could join in. It all folds up into a little backpack so you can easily take it to neighbors or the playground. I watched a few You Tube videos of how to play (to make sure this age group could handle it) and it looks fun for grown ups too! $70

8.) Hard Case Spinner Suit Cases - Now that we are trying to take our kids on more trips (more on that here), I did some serious kids suitcase research to find ones that are not only cute, but durable and these were the winners. Comes in this navy and green or this heart pattern. (I also drool over this one, but they don’t seem all that practical for actually putting on a dirty airplane). They come in three sizes so you even your littlest guys can haul some stuff. As Deacon gets older, it feels harder to have a big “ta da!” gift that Santa brings Christmas morning, but I’m pretty sure he’ll be so excited to see this under the tree this year. $110 - $200 depending on size. (I’m getting D the Large).

9.) Fair Isle Fox Hat & Gloves- I’m about 90% sure that my son’s head will no longer fit in his cute knitted hat w his name on it. But, since he has recess at 9am and it is still very chilly in the mornings, we need some warm gear. Love this cute unicorn print too and these matching unicorn gloves. Also available in this unicorn hat and unicorn matching gloves. $28 for hat, $24 for gloves.

10.) Roald Dahl Collection - Reading The Wizard of Oz aloud to Deacon these past six weeks or so has been one of those core memories (Inside Out Movie reference) for me. I am longing to read more classics to him and my mom got him this Roald Dahl box set for his birthday. He is so good at comparing books we read to the movie version, so it felt like this is a good set for him since so there are so many corresponding movies too. Plus the colorful box set looks fun styled on a bookshelf. $41

11.) Pop A Shot - I have fond memories from childhood of playing Pop A Shot in my friend’s basement. If you have a baller in your house, this is such a fun gift. A pretty great price and it folds flat for storage. Would even be fun to set up outside for kids birthday parties! $75
